I have over forty years of experience working with fine furniture and heritage buildings. I trained at the London College of Furniture, and West Dean College, where I gained a Diploma in Restoration of Antique Furniture.
Using a combination of traditional and up to date methods and materials, I repair and restore all kinds of furniture and wooden items.
The Victorian chair your uncle broke when he leant back in it; a marquetry box with missing pieces; the oak table top damaged by hot mugs of tea.
I can make your beloved pieces look as they did before they were damaged, or refresh tired pieces that just need a bit of TLC.
I work closely with an excellent upholsterer and have contacts with other specialisms.
In order to asses what needs to be done to your piece of furniture or antique object I need to see it in the flesh. Photographs can only tell part of the story.
I work on big restoration projects sometimes, but I'm equally happy with small pieces. I love problem-solving. Making tiny pieces of inlay, turning a wooden knob to replace a missing one, making a key that fits, even!

A repair plan of mine from 1997
Restoration and repair of antique furniture, objects and architectural woodwork is, for me, the antidote to the throwaway society.
This Hepplewhite chair needed a new foot. I carved one to match and spliced it in. Good as before.
